Re: ⚽ Bournemouth v West Ham - Official Match Thread
We did create plenty of chances, missed 2 point blank headers, Yarmo put a good chance wide, Anderson missed a good chance too when he should have squared it for Haller, and Lanzini towards the end for some reason decided to play it wide to the opposite wing when he was about 10 yards in front of goal a bit to the left, plus sure there were one or two other chances.

We should have won, couldn't do much about their goals, maybe could have done better for the first and Maybe Fab saves the 2nd but we still should have scored at least 3.

Rice & Yarmolenko were superb, Haller was effective and didn't think Anderson had a bad game, was very involved..
Fornals is improving and getting more stuck in and the fullbacks were good too. Much prefer Cresswell to Masuaku as a defender and he got forward and linked up well down the left.

We're looking like a good side these days and Bournemouth should be happy with that point.

I'd hate to have to decide when to play him. I suppose that's where Pellegrini earns his corn.

gph,

You just have to keep persevering and hope he comes good and is able to start games and last the majority of them.

He came on in the Man U game and was fine. He's just not able to play for a long time.

While he's a West Ham player, you use him as much as possible, even if it's not for long spells in a game.

What does a manager do with a player like Wilshere, who has still got it in him to have a very good performance, but is mostly poor?

Lab,

First three touches, he gave it away playing 5 yard passes.

To give him his due, he seemed to move quickly.

He's gone from snail to tortoise pace.

I haven’t seen any posts slagging off Wilshire , did he do average?

I would like to set Yarmo and Anderson switch wings a bit more and take the ball wide for some crosses. That is what Haller needs. They did it a bit in the first half but swapped back quite quickly. Overall, was a very entertaining game vrs a side that liked to play football.

Having watched the match again I'd like to give some love to Fornals, tho not in the biblical sense, you understand.

I thought that he had his best match for us this season. He passed the ball around well, had a few well-blocked shots and took some lovely corners.

Onwards and upwards Pablo.

For all the talk of whether Bournemouth should have had a penalty for Creswell’s shirt pull, (which the ref and VAR concluded was 6/half a dozen), the pundits and press I’ve seen ignored the shirt pull on Ogbonna, which made him miss a free header by a gnat’s pube.

The criticism and the defence of Anderson on this thread are both correct.

We definitely bought some of what we needed and we have progressed from last year at this point. At least getting points in games we lost before.

Progress on the injury front somewhat as well. Though hope for some good news on the keeper front.

Rice continues to push on.

Starting to see the best of Yarmalenko, not just scoring but some nice passing and movement.

Lanzini makes us tick if he can stay on the pitch.

Noble keeps on making people wrong. (Wish we could look less lost when he takes a needed rest.)

Cresswell seems to be growing in confidence, and has good instincts.

Long ways to go of course.

Anderson and Haller had moments yesterday but passing could being more consistent.

Fredericks needs to get our our offside trap down and runs out of ideas in the final third but more solid overall defensively

If we can win the next two, it was where I hoped we would be. (I thought we would beat Villa and lose to Everton, so some work to do of course, and we have to be sharp against Palace.)

The Yarmola clips after the game on MOTD showed a lot more of the link up play Anderson, Lanzini, Haller and Fornals all seemed (in the clips) to be on the same wave length some really nice play. Not clear why we aren't making more chances cos we are passing it around nice.

Seems to me we haven't quite clicked yet and when we do and we can shore up the defence, it is a bit leaky still, we are going to be pressing for top 6.

Previous seasons would see us losing games like these but we are not and we are top 5 at least after today's games so cause for positivity COYI!

Think about the previous 2seasons results against Bournemouth. We have improved thats enough for me . I do not expect perfection from any player

Eerie,

In all honsesty, mate, i wouldn't know and don't really care.

I think those statistics are more applicable to players in the middle of the park who's job is to keep it ticking over.

Anderson is about flair and trying more difficult passes.

On another day it comes off more and we're talking about a great performance. Yesterday, was a good performance could have better, could have been worse.

I can take that. As i pointed out earlier, we haven't even clicked properly yet as a team, still early in the season

Norf, mate - there weren't token jogs back, he was genuinely chasing back. I pointed this out pre season as it seems that he's goal threat has dwindled since he tracks back more.

He has a languid style, which can be deemed as lazy. It's not. Ivd seen it with a lot of players they do it to try and stay under the radar and then bang, quick burst of pace, set up or score a goal. As i said earlier, i think once he scores a goal a few will come along like last season.

I do get your frustrations, but overall he contributes well - we'd all love to see his brilliance week in, week out. I used to get frustrated with Di Canio when he'd throw his toys out oif the pram and not perform. But i loved him for the many moment's of brilliance he gave us.

I agree with all the other stuff. Now Wilshere is frustrating, too - but that just seems like a gamble that unfortunately, wont come off - but lets hope he proves us wrong.

Name me a top midfielder from the weekend with a 69% pass completion rate?

Re: ⚽ Bournemouth v West Ham - Official Match Thread
That's what a lot of the top players do, Eerie.

Obviously, he can improve and make the pass more. But overall, iike the fact that he's not afraid to try stuff.

When it comes off, like the Norwich game he's absolute joy to watch.

As others pointed out, if it came off, week in, week out - he wouldn't be here - if he does ever reach that level, for us,we need to hope we're qualifying for Europe as he'll be off.

Sum I didn’t see that as my stream went down for about 10/15mins, he gave the ball away so much yesterday it was ridiculous. I’m not saying he never tracks back but he very rarely tacks back and looks like he’s breaking his neck to get there it’s usually a token jog.
I actually thought as awhile we were very good yesterday and bossed the game the only players I was really disappointed with were Anderson and fuck knows what’s happened to jack wilshere he looks like he’s never played football before he couldn’t even manage 5 yard square passes yesterday without giving it away
On a brighter note rice was phenomenal yarmalenko looked sharp and although he wasn’t brilliant I thought Fornals seemed to be adjusting to the pace and speed some nice touches and movement still has a fair way to go mind. One little gripe is although I love the way we play we have a centre forward who is a monster in the air and we very rarely cross the ball and when we do it’s invariable poor love to see us mix it up a bit more
Looking very positive in my eyes although desperately need to get Fab fit and keep him that way

Re: ⚽ Bournemouth v West Ham - Official Match Thread
It's too easy to keep saying 'he's trying the spectacular, that's why it seems like he's giving the ball away a lot'

That's simply not true, he gave the ball away far too often for a £40mil player yesterday. He does provide moments of class, but for me, 69% passing accuracy yesterday is not good enough.
